Our friends and neighbors in Houston are struggling with high temperatures and no electricity in the wake of Hurricane Beryl. In partnership with our friends @ SmartAID, we would like to make a difference by providing a Smart Trailer to address some of these overwhelming needs. Smart Trailers are mobile units equipped with essential resources like clean energy, water, and communications. We want these in Texas — both to deal with what is current and to plan for future disasters — all to ensure ongoing support for those in need. It is imperative that communities and first responders stay connected and powered during these critical times and that people, expensive foods, and medicines are kept cool and safe. These Smart Trailers will eventually be deployed across the United States. We’d like to make a difference first at home!

FROM SHACHAR ZAHAVI, FOUNDER OF SMARTAID
The aftermath of Hurricane Beryl has left millions of Texans without power as dangerous heat descends on the region. Restoring power could take days or even weeks, creating a dire situation for residents facing triple-digit heat without air conditioning, fridges can’t keep food cold, medicine are affected.

SmartAID is committed to helping communities and first responders in TEXAS stay connected and powered during these critical times.

Our ‘Smart Trailer’ are mobile units equipped with essential resources like clean energy and communication units. These trailers will be stationed in Texas to deal with current situation and also future natural disasters, ensuring ongoing support to those in need.

Our Smart Trailers will:

  • Keep communities connected and powered, providing essential electricity for refrigerators, enabling residents to preserve food and medicine.
  • Support first responders with the power and telecommunications to improve their service to communities in need.

By supporting this program, you can help us deploy these vital Smart Trailers across Texas, providing immediate relief and ensuring readiness for future natural disasters. Your support can make a significant difference in the lives of those affected by Hurricane Beryl and beyond.

The United States is reeling from multiple, back-to-back natural disasters. “Compound events” like these are set to become more common. For many Americans, the loss of life and financial strain will require difficult decisions about how to pay for food, housing, and other daily expenses, with climate change expected to increase these costs by approximately 9 percent over their lifetime.

In 2023 alone, the U.S. experienced 28 weather and climate disasters.

“Overall, global warming and changing climate will create bigger, stronger, and more intense storms with higher frequency,” explains the National Weather Service. NOAA’s Climate Prediction Center attributes the increased storm activity to “current ocean and atmospheric conditions, such as record-warm Atlantic sea surface temperatures.”

“We will see more heat waves, hurricanes, droughts, and wildfires, and they will be much more severe than what we’re experiencing now,” say NOAA officials. “Extreme heat and higher temperatures will become more common, more intense, and will last a lot longer. Overall, these natural disasters will only keep getting more expensive.”

The growing impact of natural disasters in the U.S. is a stark reminder of the urgent need for action to address climate change.

As these events become more frequent and severe, the costs—both financial and human—will continue to rise, demanding a concerted effort from all sectors of society to mitigate and adapt to these challenges.

SmartAID is dedicated to helping communities and first responders stay connected and powered during these critical times.

Our ‘Smart Trailer’ initiative will eventually be vital in disaster-stricken areas across the United States, ensuring that communities remain connected and that first responders have the power they need to perform life-saving tasks.

We need your help to expand this initiative in your state. Your contribution will provide essential power solutions, keeping families safe, connected, and informed during their most challenging times. Join us in making a difference.

Kindly yours,
