The Young Family Community at Congregation Agudas Achim strives to organize, promote, and lead social, educational, and religious opportunities for families with children ages 0-8.  Join us for a variety of programming throughout the year!

Shabbat

Tot Shabbat (Geared towards children 5 and under and their grown ups)- (1st and 3rd Saturday of the month, 11:15-12PM)Join Rabbi Swedroe and friends for a fun morning of songs, music and stories as we celebrate Shabbat together in the Worob Garden. Check out our calendar/FB for inclement weather locations. Please bring a blanket and/or chairs to sit on.We’ll conclude with motzi, kiddush, and lunch! All are warmly welcome.

Shalom Minyan (Geared towards children in grades K-5th, dropped off, 11-12PM)

Children K-5th are invited to CAARS teacher, Sara Goodie, in prayer and fun explorations of the Torah, in CAA Classroom 143.
After, we’ll join our friends from tot shabbat for motzi, kiddush, and lunch! All are warmly welcome.

Chai Chair Family Seder (Thursday, April 6th)

Shabbat Splash (Fri May 19th and Fri August 18th, 5-8pm)

Join us as we welcome Shabbat and the beginning of summer at the JCC Pool followed by dinner and songs.


*Rosh Hashanah Day 1 (Monday, September 26th)

9-9:45AM Tot Services led by Rabbi Gail Swedroe and Avi Hurewitz on guitar, Worob Garden. All are welcome but tickets (at no charge!) are required for security purposes.

10AM-12PM Youth Services and Activities led by Aviva Frank, Avi Hurewitz on Guitar, Zoe Miller, and friends! Grades K-3 (and 4-6) will have opportunities to celebrate the holiday together. Advanced registration is required.


*Rosh Hashanah Day 2 (Tuesday, September 27th)

10-11:30AM Family Service led by Aviva Frank and Sara Kaye, CAA Chapel. Tickets to any CAA service required for security purposes.


*Tashlich – Choose Your Own Water Adventure (Sunday, October 2nd)

2PM – Join us at Ladybird Lake under the MoPac under pass as we throw bread into the water and think about how we want to be better versions of ourselves. We’ll hear the shofar, sing some songs, and afterwards everyone is invited to choose their own water adventure, appreciating this natural treasure in Austin by enjoying a home-brought snack, picking up some litter and/or taking a kayak/SUP out for a ride. May we be inspired to be partners in creation and good stewards of the Earth, as we engage in teshuvah. Everyone is welcome.

Yom Kippur (Wednesday, October 5th)

Sukkot Sing Along in the Worob Garden followed by lunch in the Sukkah!  (Monday, October 10th)

11:15-12pm Join Rabbi Swedroe and Avi Hurewitz as we celebrate Sukkot with song, dance, lulav and etrog! We’ll conclude with kiddush and motzi in our Sukkah. Geared towards children 5 and under and their families. 


Shakshuka in the Sukkah (Friday, October 14th)

5:30pm We are excited to have one of our favorite Sukkot celebrations back! Please join us for dinner in our sukkah, delicious food, and an opportunity to shake the lulav and etrog. We’ll conclude around 6:45 with a musical Shir La Shabbat Service, geared towards our friends 8 and under and their families, as well as our sweet community services at 7pm. **Reservations for dinner required**


Simchat Torah (Monday, October 17th)

6:30pm Simchat Torah Children’s Celebration! Music, dancing and ice cream Torahs oh my! The final day of Sukkot marks the conclusion of the annual cycle of the Torah readings and the beginning of a new cycle. Come celebrate this joyous occasion with us as we make Torah sweet and fun. Geared for 3-9 year olds, though younger children are most welcome.


Purim (Monday, March 6th)

Join us for a kid-geared version of the megillah reading, shenanigans, songs, and hamantaschen! Everyone is welcome.
