Chesed

Mission:

Our mission in the Agudas Achim spiritual community is to support our members in times of sickness, stress and loss and to repair the world through acts of kindness and justice mandated in Torah and in Jewish tradition.  This mission includes education of community members and effective strategies to connect our community members with opportunities for service. Service-level standards are set and made known to congregants. Communication systems are in place and well-utilized.

The Chesed Committee, currently co-chaired by Wendy Tomlinson and Paula Falk, in partnership with our clergy, supports both our Agudas Achim family as well as projects of social significance in the larger world. These two branches are known as:

V’ahavta

-Bikkur Cholim (visiting the sick)

-Yad Ezra (meals during a transitional life moment); chaired by Carolyn Austin

– Lev Circles (small havurot which check in regularly)

– Congregation-Wide Check Ins

– Other Initiatives

Tikkun Olam

-Social Action-Minded Learning

-Food Pantry Drives

-And More
