On Sunday, January 16th Congregation Agudas Achim hosted our first ever Mitzvah Fest – a day of service in celebration of Tu B’Shvat and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Thanks to our youth advisor Jacob Levy for spearheading this event. Check out pictures from our awesome day below!
Some of the amazing things we did at Mitzvah Fest included:
- Learned from Capital Metro about their E-Bus, we got to explore and ride around in it
- Created dog toys out of old t-shirts for Austin Animal Center
- Packed bags of toiletries for our local Ronald McDonald House with Jewish Family Service of Austin
- Designed cards for CAA families in transitional moments
- Planted a new tree (Mexican Sycamore) care of TreeFolks that CAARS students will help care for
- Learned about food rescue and food insecurity both in Israel and in the United States with לקט ישראל Leket Israel.
From now until Purim, CAARS classes will be participating a Tzedakah Challenge benefitting Leket. More information on our Tzedakah coming soon.
We had an amazing time at Mitzvah Fest and look forward to doing acts of service together again in the future!
